I just went through only a few pages and there was a rapid increase in my pride level.
Its Culture(The one that i love the most in my country) tradition , spiritualism, multilingual multiethnic society with 'Unity in Diversity',A country with the motto Satyameva Jeyate (Truth alone triumphs) ,World's eleventh largest economy , Birthplace of Hinduism , Buddhism , Sikhism and Jainism , A peace loving nation (should have been my first point with mahatma Gandhiji as the father of nation ) with third largest standing armed force.
I even came across few things that made my head down -poverty, illiteracy corruption and health related challenges.But then i was reminded of one thing that one of my teachers keep saying - Nobody and no body is perfect on this universe. So my pride level remained as such.
There are certain things exclusive to India and Indians that no other nation could share.These were not given a mention in the pages that i read.
- The way we treat strangers - be it a vegetable vendor or an auto-driver , be it our classmate or sometimes even the teachers, not bothering how old they are, we address them as 'anna' or 'akka'(brother or sister) .
- The values we learnt - love for parents treating them equivalent to God( Mathru devo bhava , pithru devo bhava) Respect for the teachers(aacharya devo bhava) The hospitality when someone (known or unknown) makes a visit (athithi devo bhava) .
- Celebration- We have ample festivals to celebrate . We love to celebrate any kind of festival .Right from rakshabandan till Valentine's day we celebrate everything . When celebration is considered the first thing that matters would be the variety of food . Next thing that is counted in celebration would be to watch the latest release of the day or the special programs telecast.The lifetime ambition of most Indians would be to meet their favourite actor /actress/cricket player. This is mainly because we give much importance to entertainment .(Life is short , enjoy everyday -In fact am an Indian).
- Animals like cow and snake treated like God (Maatu pongal - an exclusive festival for cow).
We Indians enjoy all sorts of freedom like littering the streets throwing away the chocolate wrapper on the road or breaking one whole pumpkin at the center of the road on a new moon day and many other activities which is not possible in any other country.
There is a lot more to mention about my country with regards to its achievement - Indian martial arts , The vedic mathematics , Ayurveda , Indian architecture and sculpture What not !!!
"INCREDIBLE INDIA"
I would like to conclude this post with The Pledge (it has been years since i recited this.I guess the last time i did was on the day of my first paper of public exam at my school assembly).
India is my country & all Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage;
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents, teachers and all elders respect and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge, my devotion.
In their well-being and prosperity alone, lies my happiness.
Vande maatharam !!! Jai Hind !!
